Friday: KneeOn Sisters

Aerial and Skyler Smith are the KneeOn Sisters. Born in Tupelo, MS, the two moved to Westcliffe, Colorado, in late childhood. As early teens, they began creating their own style of music, not typical for young ladies of their age. Blending southern flavors of Classic Rock, Country, and Blues with the eclectic and modern vibe of the mountain west, these young ladies’ music appeals to a broad range of listeners’ tastes. From playful to edgy to soulful, their original songs will encourage, empower, and soothe. Favorite covers span from Woodstock to LA to Nashville. Aerial’s instrument of choice is the electric guitar, and Skyler’s electric bass, the two enjoy energizing the stage. The unmistakable “sister” bond is quickly evident, and that feeling of family connection flows to the audience.

They were participants in the 2018 & 2019 Mississippi Songwriters Festivals and selected for the 2019 Frank Brown International Songwriters Festival Youth Showcase. The KneeOn Sisters were the cover artists for the October/November 2019 edition of Southland Music Line and listed in the top 15 musicians to watch for in 2019.  The duo has been featured on WLOX TV, Mississippi Public Broadcast “Next Stop MS” Radio, as well as numerous other regional and local print publications.

The KneeOn Sisters released their first demo EP, “Take One” spring 2019, and since, they have been busy continuing what they love most – writing music and performing live.
